2013年10月6日-8日，应水利与建筑工程学院和中国旱区节水农业研究院邀请，法国国家农业研究院（French National Institute for Agricultural Research; INRA）资深研究员Daniel Wallach博士来我校访问交流。10月8日上午，我校副校长吴普特会见了Wallach博士，向其简要介绍了我校的历史、科研及国际合作情况，并与Wallach博士讨论了如何在旱区农业生产中通过调肥调水提高作物光能利用效率和作物水分利用效率的问题。

　　10月7日下午Wallach博士与我院师生进行了学术交流，座谈会上Wallach博士向与会师生介绍了世界作物模型领域的发展前沿，并就作物模型的参数估计、模型的不确定性分析、模型可靠性评价等问题同大家分享了经验，其中介绍的自己最新的研究成果，引起了老师和同学们的浓厚兴趣。与会老师和同学们积极参与讨论。

　　10月8日上午，Wallach博士在国际交流中心208，为我校师生做了题为“Dynamic Crop Models and the AgMIPhone Project”的学术报告。报告中Wallach博士首先向大家介绍了什么是作物模型，为什么要进行作物模型研究，作物模型在科研和生产中有哪些优势，以及作物模型自身的问题和局限性。然后介绍了Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP),，最后分享了自己在作物模型领域的经验，并热情详细地回答了老师和同学们提出的问题。

　　Daniel Wallach博士简介：

　　Dr. Wallach earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in Chemical Physics. But he later decided to change fields, and became involved with crop modeling. His early work in modeling convinced him that more rigorous methods of working with these models are required, and that statistics can supply the basis for these methods. He has since specialized in the application of statistical methods to crop modeling. He is the first author of the book “Working with dynamic crop models”. The Second Edition of this book will come out toward the end of this year.
